Hawthorne: The Head Nurse Is Black!!!

Look I don't know if it was me just wanting to see Jada Pinkett-Smith acting on a TV show again or my growing desire to work in a hospital, but what I do know is that I'm truly enjoying watching Jada as the fiery and down to Earth head nurse Christina Hawthorne. I can't explain why I like the show, except for the action and the occasional fight between Hawthorne and the hospital bureaucracy; I will have to say that the show is good, but it is missing something...I can't quite put my fingers on it. (You tell me what the show is missing).

I also enjoy the metal legged nurse on the show. Her sexiness and amazing smile makes you forget about the fact she only has one real leg...I was wondering how the EMT that's dating her felt when he discovered that, but in the show he seems like that isn't an issue for him.

Finally what is up with Hawthorne's daughter? I mean your mom is a successful head nurse, who is trying to raise you on her own after the death of her husband. What the heck do you have to be rebellious for? Try being raised by a single mother who can't be a head nurse or wasn't afforded the opportunity to do so and then talked to me about rebellion you ungrateful little...sorry I got upset for a second over a fictional character.

All in all I give Hawthorne a thumb up and I applaud Jada Pinkett Smith for coming back to TV on a strong drama series. (Hopefully we'll get more Black TV series that won't get cancelled like The Game and Girlfriends...all Girlfriends was losing its edge near the end anyway).

  1. I think that Nurse Jackie is a lot better than Hawthorne. I liked Eddie Falco from the Sapranos.
